I want to start out by saying this artist has become one of my favorites, Caroline has a crisp, clean style that I adore. My favotite part of the piece is the angel, she is beautiful and conveys the emotion of sadness at the loss of a hero. The mood of the piece has good impact, the lighting and the full moon, barren trees all help set that mood. Also the fact it is not in color was a good decision for this piece. The hem of the angel's dress has a delightful but eerie transparancy, very well rendered. The weaker parts to me are the grass and trees. They may be a bit stylized, which is all good, and I also like the bits of light in the grass which helps the mood to seem more supernatural, but I think the grass and trees are not rendered as well as they could be. The plane could use more work too, but it is good in my opinion. Lastly, the cat in the background. Nice touch! And the other detail that really works for me, is her holding the pilot's headgear. Genious, all the way. Caroline, I absolutely am a fan. Keep it up!
i like the angel, but the way she pops out of the background makes the rest of it seem kinda flat and draws all the focus to her, leaving little for the plane. maybe fade her upper body a bit more? also kinda wish i could see something of the pilot, at first i thought she was the pilot b/c she's holding his helmet...
